27 illegal e-bikes and e-scooters seized in Preston police crackdown

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding ASB - Nuisance (When a person causes trouble, annoyance or suffering to a community), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

We have seized a number of illegal e-bikes, e-scooters and off-road bikes from the streets of Preston as part of ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Yesterday, Sunday 4th October, officers from Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing Team and Specialist Operations carried out an operation in response to community concerns about the misuse of e-bikes and e-scooters.

Over the course of the operation, 27 vehicles were seized across Preston City Centre under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act. These vehicles will now be destroyed.

Insp. Adam Pearson from Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We know the significant impact that illegal e-bikes and anti-social driving has on our communities, and we are committed to taking robust action against those responsible.

“Removing these vehicles helps make our streets safer and sends a clear message that this behaviour will not be tolerated."

"We will continue to carry out targeted operations and act on the information provided by the public to address these concerns."

Anyone wishing to report nuisance vehicles such as e-bikes, e-scooters or quad bikes in public spaces can visit the dedicated ASB page at: www.lancashire-pcc.gov.uk/lancashire-tackling-asb

Information can also be shared anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Alternatively, you can call 101, or 999 in an emergency.

Op. Centurion is Lancashire Constabulary’s county-wide response to anti-social behaviour, supported by Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw.
